When can you start taking folic acid in pregnancy?
Ideally, you should start taking folic acid before you get pregnant and throughout the first 12 weeks of pregnancy, while the baby’s spine is still developing. However, if you did not start taking folic acid before pregnancy, you can still start and should start taking it as soon as you find out you are pregnant.
