MEDIC staff will plan the logistics of the drive. More than one drive may be held for an individual. Once the drive(s) is complete, MEDIC staff will process the donations and add the credits to the patient\u2019s account.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-text stk-block-text stk-block stk-dce67ec\" data-block-id=\"dce67ec\"><style>.stk-dce67ec {margin-bottom:0px !important;}<\/style><p class=\"stk-block-text__text\">Things to note:<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Blood donors MUST notify MEDIC staff they are donating for the patient.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Patient support donations can be made at any mobile drive or any of MEDIC\u2019s Donor Centers.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-heading stk-block-heading stk-block-heading--v2 stk-block stk-2188f7a\" id=\"strong-what-is-a-credit-strong\" data-block-id=\"2188f7a\"><style>.stk-2188f7a .stk-block-heading__bottom-line{height:4px !important;background-color:var(--theme-palette-color-1, #be1e2d) !important;margin-top:10px !important;}.stk-2188f7a {margin-bottom:0px !important;}<\/style><h4 class=\"stk-block-heading__text\"><strong>What is a credit?<\/strong><\/h4><div class=\"stk-block-heading__bottom-line\"><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-text stk-block-text stk-block stk-4221097\" data-block-id=\"4221097\"><p class=\"stk-block-text__text\">A credit is a monetary coverage of $15 to help cover a hospital\u2019s blood processing fee per unit of blood. MEDIC does not cover hospital charges or blood product fees. If a MEDIC member or patient receiving credits receives blood in a hospital, it is the patient\u2019s or family\u2019s responsibility to notify MEDIC of the blood usage. If a patient uses blood from a hospital in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/medicblood.org\/our-service-area\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"332\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">MEDIC\u2019s service area<\/a>, MEDIC staff will contact the hospital for usage information. Once this information is confirmed, the patient will receive a check for $15 per credit in their MEDIC account. If the patient uses blood in a hospital outside MEDIC\u2019s service area, the patient or the patient\u2019s family MUST provide an itemized copy of the patient\u2019s hospital bill showing the blood products used before a check can be issued. Then, the patient will receive $15 for each credit.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-text stk-block-text stk-block stk-d8e3e5d\" data-block-id=\"d8e3e5d\"><style>.stk-d8e3e5d {margin-bottom:0px !important;}<\/style><p class=\"stk-block-text__text\">Things to note:<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>MEDIC covers only the blood product processing fee of $15 for non-member patients.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>MEDIC does not cover hospital charges or blood product fees for non-member patients.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For deceased patients, MEDIC will keep the patient account open for six months. After six months, MEDIC will \u201cclose\u201d the account and send a check to the family of the patient for the remaining credits.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-text stk-block-text stk-block stk-de60f17\" data-block-id=\"de60f17\"><p class=\"stk-block-text__text\">Please see the documents below for more information.
